Organic soybean, soybean meal prices stable in Q1

Imports at the $700 per tonne level are routine, and further logistics slowdowns on the East Coast could help to buoy prices for organic soybeans and soybean meal, Fastmarkets understands.

February organic soybean imports were driven by bulk volume originating from Turkey. Approximately 6,000 tonnes were imported from Turkey, and an additional 6,000 tonnes were imported from Russia in February.

A new participant has entered organic soybean export markets, with Mexico exporting around 3,000 tonnes of organic soybeans into the US in 2024. Organic soybean imports increased to 17,000 tonnes in February from 13,000 tonnes in January, according to the US Customs Department.

Canada, Ukraine and Togo have also contributed to US organic soybean imports in 2024.
