US soybean crush above monthly, yearly levels in March

Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) grain prices shifted higher across the board on Thursday May 2.

July soybeans increased by 28.75 cents per bushel to settle at $11.99 per bu and July soymeal jumped by $15.90 per short ton to $364.90 per ton.

Meanwhile, July corn increased by 9 cents per bu to $4.59 per bu, and July wheat rose by 5 cents per bu to close at $6.04 per bu.

Grain futures surged after a string of bullish factors, including flooding in Brazil, potential planting delays and ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Black Sea region.

In March 2024, soybeans crushed for crude oil reached 204 million bu, increasing 5% from February 2024 and 3% above March 2023, as stated in USDA’s Fats and Oils: Oilseed Crushing, Production, Consumption and Stocks report released on Wednesday May 1.
