Choice white grease prices went up in FOB markets on Tuesday, with trading done in a range of 37.5-39.5 cents per lb FOB Missouri River. Prices were boosted by strong feed demand and an uptick in rail demand for the renewable fuel markets.

And buyers are short on lower-cost alternatives for their feed formulations, with RBD palm oil prices reported at 47.5-48 cents per lb delivered to the US Gulf, equivalent to 52-54 cents per lb delivered Midwest.

Feed buyers may opt for more corn in their rations, but current prices relative to corn have been consistent and historically reasonable so as not to force mass reformulations, Fastmarkets understands.
