Renewable diesel shipments in US dip in February

Renewable diesel (RD) in the US has been increasingly transported by rail, with the bulk of monthly shipments going to the West Coast, interregional shipping data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed on April 30.

In February, 1.304 million gallons of RD were transported across the US, down from 1.475 million gallons in January, according to the EIA.

The West Coast — where most renewable diesel is consumed in the country — received a total of 1.266 million gallons of RD in February, down from 1.434 million gallons in January.

California, Oregon and Washington are the only states with clean fuel programs that incentivize renewable diesel use. The West Coast receives RD rail shipments from the Gulf Coast, Midwest and Rocky Mountains.
