Soybean crush sinks almost 13% month on month in April: USDA

US soybean crush totaled 178 million bushels in April, down by 12.75% from 204 million bu in March and by 4.81% from 187 million bu in April 2023, according to the USDA;s Monthly Fats and Oils report released on Monday June 3.

However, the April crush figure was above average market estimate of 176 million bushels. Market sources had anticipated a lower crush rate in April, partially due to maintenance downtime at processing plants.

Crude soybean oil production in April totaled 2.10 billion lbs, down by 13% month on month and by 6% year on year. Refined US soybean oil production came in at 1.72 million lbs in April, down by 3.9% month on month but up 3% year on year.
