International animal fats and oils, June 20, 2024

The European Commission has postponed its announcement of preliminary anti-dumping duties against Chinese biodiesel by one week, with the notice now expected to come out on June 28, which has raised doubts in the market about whether any measures will be implemented at all.

Nevertheless, some market players held back from trade on Thursday June 20, expecting a price reaction if any anti-dumping duties were to be announced.

Prices for animal fats were broadly stable compared with last week’s values, with trading for category 3 mixed fats with max 15% free fatty acids (FFA) reported at €860 ($924) per tonne DDP North-West Europe (NWE), while higher quality fats with 5% FFA were trading around €940-950 per tonne on the same basis.

Prices for poultry fats were indicated at €950-955 per tonne DDP NWE for 5-7% FFA, and at €1,015-1,025 per tonne for higher grades.
