Turkish organic corn imports double Argentina’s

Organic corn imports slowed during Q1, in part due to a reduction of Argentine organic corn. Argentina endured prolonged drought in 2022 and 2023, reducing organic corn yields by as much as half in some locations.

Argentina shipped nearly 65,000 tonnes of organic corn to the U.S. last marketing year. Five months are yet to be reflected in the current years import data, and there is no firmly established cadence to these imports. Organic grain trade flows remain in flux. Argentina supplied 27% of U.S. organic corn imports this marketing year.

Argentina shipped only 6,000 tonnes of organic corn in the second half of the 22/23 marketing year. Part of this reduction last year reflects drought losses.
