Phillips 66 Rodeo facility fully operational with plans to begin renewable jet fuel production

Phillips 66’s (P66) Rodeo refinery in San Francisco, California, began commercial production of renewable diesel (RD) on April 2. At that time, one of two hydrocrackers were operational, allowing initial production of approximately 30,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel. P66 reports that both hydrocrackers have become fully operational.

The company previously announced intentions to ramp up production to 50,000 bpd by the end of the second quarter. With both hydrocrackers running, it is expected that P66 has achieved this goal.

P66 is working toward making their pre-treatment unit (PTU) fully operational during the third quarter. Having the PTU running will allow P66 to move from a higher carbon intensity (CI), less profitable feedstock mix to a lower CI, more profitable one.
