Some trading for mixed fats with 15% free fatty acids (FFA) was reported at €840-860 ($898-919) per tonne in North-West Europe (NWE), while 5% FFA fats traded in the range of €920-960 per tonne ex-works NWE.

Prices for Category 1 and 2 fats became slightly firmer, with market sources reporting prices at €720-760 per tonne DDP NWE, up by €10 per tonne week on week.

Trading for poultry fats was reported at €1,015-1,025 per tonne DDP NWE for 2% FFA, €965-975 per tonne DDP for 5% FFA and €900-905 per tonne DDP for 10% FFA. Demand in Europe increased slightly amid a recently imposed import tax on Russian and Belarusian fats exports into Europe, with measures to come into force on July 1.

“Demand has increased a bit, but the Russians have still found a way to export fats and [avoid] the sanctions, so the effect is minimal,” a Europe-based source told Fastmarkets.
