Poultry by-product pet food grade drops on excess inventory levels

The proximity of the Independence Day holiday on Thursday July 4 has led to ranges widening for several US animal proteins. Bloodmeal and meat and bonemeal, for both ruminant and porcine, were flat for the day on Tuesday July 2.

Market sources indicated wider ranges on feathermeal for Minnesota and the Mid-South regions on accounts of hit-and-miss demand.

Fastmarkets assessed feathermeal, fob Minnesota at $475-550 per short ton, higher from Monday’s values of $475-500 per ton. Values as high as $575 per ton were reported in Minnesota, but could not be confirmed as of press time.

Fastmarkets assessed feathermeal, fob Alabama/Georgia at $430-490 per ton, lower from Monday’s values of $460-490 per ton. Values as low as $400 per ton were reported in Alabama/Georgia, but could not be confirmed as of press time.
