Animal protein values wide ranging; Q2 HPAI headcounts above 2022/23

Limited animal protein volumes were reported on Wednesday July 3 due to the proximity of the long Fourth of July weekend. US animal protein values were mostly flat, with exception to some minimal range adjustments for Wednesday, keeping wide ranges on several products.

US broiler slaughter
Fastmarkets’ research team forecasts broiler slaughter at 148.22 million head in the week to Saturday July 6, 0.25% higher than the same period in 2023.

Over the next six weeks, broiler slaughter is expected to average 165.28 million head per week, down by 0.69% year on year, according to Fastmarkets’ research team.
