Reductions in US feathermeal exports puts pressure on values

The US domestic protein market was quiet on Tuesday July 9, with limited price changes reported on ruminant and porcine items. Market sources told Fastmarkets that the market was uneasy due to regular holiday downtime at processing plants, extended downtime last week, and the price drop in soybean meal.

Feathermeal values were lower in several regions on account of increased availability on the US domestic sector.

Fastmarkets assessed the price of feathermeal, fob Mid-South, falling to $430-475 per short ton, from Monday’s value of $430-500 per short ton.

Fastmarkets also assessed the price of poultry by-product meal, pet food, fob US Mid-South, lower, at $600-625 per short ton, compared with Monday’s $600-650 per short ton.
