Used cooking oil (UCO) traded into the US Gulf market at 47.5 cents per lb delivered in what was otherwise a fairly quiet trading day on Thursday July 11, sources told Fastmarkets.

Gulf indications were heard in a range of 47-48 cents per lb delivered on Thursday, but those indications could not be paired with confirmation or volume before publication time.

Lard did trade outside of the Chicago rail corridor in trucks with loads done at 50 cents per lb, 51 cents per lb and 63 cents per lb FOB.

Rail trading was quiet on the day, but multiple sources commented that prices were “likely higher” given the dynamics of the choice white grease market.

US fat exports
The USDA released US fat export estimates for May 2024 showing a big year-on-year increase in exports for the month, but with tonnage well below 2019-2021 averages.
