WASDE forecasts continued erosion of US beef production into 2025

US animal protein prices were steady to lower in the week to Friday July 12 due to continued price pressure on soybean meal and sluggish seasonal demand on most products, market sources said.

The largest movers for the week were feathermeal and poultry by-product pet food grade. Market sources indicated persistently high inventories of both products due to lighter export and US domestic demand, which weighed on prices.

Fastmarkets’ assessment of feathermeal, fob Mid-South averaged $454 per short ton in the week to Friday, down by 2.37% from the average of $465 per ton in the week to July 5.

Fastmarkets’ assessment of poultry by-product meal, pet food, 14 Ash 64 Pro, fob US Mid-South averaged $615.00 per short ton in the week to Friday, down by 2.35% from the previous weekly average of $637.50 per ton.
