DCO prices nearing yearly high relative to soybean oil

Tallow traded into the Gulf market in a range of 49.5-50.0 cents per lb delivered on Tuesday July 16. Used cooking oil (UCO) trading was steady at 47.5 cents per lb delivered for the nearby market and up 0.5 cents per lb from the last traded level for shipment in the one month forward position.

The Chicago market remains quiet, although there are persistent reports of buying interest meeting a lack of nearby supply.

Choice white grease traded up 0.5 cents per lb out of the Mo. River market, and trading out of the Indiana market was higher as well.

Distiller’s corn oil (DCO) traded as high as 50 cents per lb FOB IL/WI and Mo. River on Tuesday, driven by strong demand for the August position and on a period of firm offers from sellers following the surge in soybean oil futures in early July.

The Mo. River DCO market finished the week to July 12 at an average of 100% of the price of nearby soybean oil, up from 95% the week prior.
