US animal protein prices steady to lower amid quiet market

Prices for US animal proteins were flat to lower on Wednesday July 17. Market sources indicated a quiet day with price pressure coming from soybean meal markets.

Porcine meat and bonemeal in the Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska region rose on active demand, even with lower soybean meal prices, market sources said.

Fastmarkets assessed bloodmeal, porcine, fob Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska at $1,000-1,100 per short ton, up from $955-1,100 per short ton on Tuesday July 16. Trades were reported below the current range, though in limited volumes.

Feathermeal decreased in Minnesota and California based on a report from sources on Monday, with no reports on Tuesday. Market sources said limited demand and lower soybean meal prices pressured feathermeal products.

Fastmarkets assessed feathermeal, fob Minnesota at $425-500 per short ton on Monday, down from $450-525 per short ton Tuesday.
