International animal fats, July 18, 2024

The New Zealand animal fats market was steady in the week to Thursday July 18 on limited trading. Export prices out of the Australian market were also unchanged, but domestic prices edged lower.

Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) estimated national cattle slaughter at 138,787 head during the week, up by 18.1% year on year but down slightly from the previous week’s total.

The European tallow markets were steady in the week to Thursday, with no price changes reported.

Most buyers and sellers have wrapped up their third-quarter deals and are now waiting before deciding on fourth-quarter transactions.
