Central Illinois soybean crush margins hit six-month high

Chicago Mercantile Exchange grain prices rose across the board on Monday July 22.

The August soybean futures contract increased by 20.50 cents per bushel to settle at $11.17 per bu, and August soymeal jumped by $6.80 per short ton to $343.60 per ton.

Meanwhile, the September corn futures contract increased by 9.75 cents per bu to $4.00 per bu, and September wheat rose by 5.25 cents per bu to close at $5.48 per bu.

Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) prices dropped in the Minnesota/Dakotas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Ohio markets on Monday, while holding steady in other regions. Market participants noted that lower corn prices, coupled with sluggish demand and rising supplies, continue to pressure DDG prices.

Weekly soybean crush
The crush margin in Central Illinois increased in the week to Friday July 19, according to the National Weekly Grain Co-Products Report released by the USDA on Monday.
