Livestock slaughter slowed in Europe in July, leading to lower animal fats and proteins availability, while hot summer weather impacted quality, sources told Fastmarkets.
Sources reported edible tallow max 2% free fatty acids (FFA) trading at €1,010 ($1,093) per tonne DDP Northwest Europe (NWE), while a mix with lower quality fats was heard trading below €1,000 per tonne.
Category 3 animal fats max 3-5% FFA fats were quoted around €890 per tonne in Spain, while 10-12% FFA was priced at €830 per tonne in Spain and €855-860 per tonne in NWE.
Prices for category 1 and 2 fats moved up a bit, with selling interest reported at €760 per tonne in NWE.
Prices for poultry fats were stable at €1,000 per tonne DDP NWE for 2% FFA and at €930-940 per tonne DDP for 5-7% FFA.
