International animal proteins August 1, 2024

Prices for international animal proteins were flat in the week to Thursday August 1, within the previously set ranges.

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) reported cattle slaughter at 139,788 head for the week to July 26. This was 1,514 head more than the week before and up by 18,714 head from the corresponding week in 2023.

Year-to-date slaughter for Australia was 3.77 million head, up year on year by 519,105 head, or 15.98%. The 2024 year-to-date slaughter was up by 29.73% compared with the three-year average.

Fishmeal prices for Chile and Peru were not published due to outdated prices and a lack of reported trades in the week to Thursday.
