Wheat futures climb amid rain concerns in France, Germany

Most grain prices on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange fell on Friday August 16. The November soybean futures contract decreased by 11.50 cents per bushel to settle at $9.57 per bu, while September wheat increased by 1.75 cents per bu to close at $5.30 per bu.

Meanwhile, September soybean meal fell by $4.50 per short ton to $303.40 per ton, and September corn dropped by 4.50 cents per bu to $3.70 per bu.

Wheat prices posted slight gains following a round of technical buying, driven by heavy rains hampering production in France and Germany.

Corn prices continued to decline after another wave of technical selling. Soybean prices suffered double-digit losses following a round of technical selling after the USDA forecasted record-breaking US production earlier in the week.
