US ethanol production, stocks climb above weekly, yearly levels

Weekly average ethanol production in the US was 1.098 million barrels per day in the week to August 16, up by 26,000 bpd from a week earlier and up by 4.8% year on year, according to reports by the US Energy Information Administration on Wednesday August 21.

Ethanol stocks totaled 23.57 million barrels, up by 220,000 barrels week on week and up by 3.4% year on year.

Demand for corn increased by 2.4% from the previous week and by 4.8% year on year. Approximately 16.26 million bushels per day of corn were used for ethanol production.

Livestock feed production totaled 117,418 tonnes in the week to August 16. Distillers’ dried grain production accounted for 104,429 tonnes, with the remaining amount consisting of 10,960 tonnes of corn gluten feed and 2,030 tonnes of corn gluten meal.

Gasoline supply increased by 148,000 bpd from the previous week to 9.19 million bpd and was up by 3.2% year on year.
