US corn, soybean export sales hit new marketing-year low

Corn
US corn sales for 2023/24 were reported at a marketing-year low of 15,300 tonnes in the week to August 22, down by 87% from the previous week and by 93% from the prior four-week average.

Much of the increase came from Spain (106,000 tonnes), Mexico (53,400 tonnes), Portugal (20,000 tonnes), Colombia (10,100 tonnes, and Guatemala (9,700 tonnes). These gains were partly offset by reductions for unknown destinations (75,200 tonnes), South Korea (62,000 tonnes), Japan (37,900 tonnes), Panama (12,000 tonnes) and Nicaragua (7,500 tonnes). The USDA groups undisclosed destinations under the umbrella term “unknown.”

Export sales for the 2024/25 crop season were 1.49 million tonnes. Net sales were recorded for Mexico (419,700 tonnes), unknown destinations (391,200 tonnes), Japan (203,500 tonnes), Colombia (112,100 tonnes) and Guatemala (109,900 tonnes).
