Biofuel usage of yellow grease, tallow exceeds domestic production

The fat market was quiet on Tuesday September 3 to start the new trading week and month.

A bid/offer spread was heard into the US Gulf market at 46-48 cents per lb delivered for distiller’s corn oil, but no trading was reported.

In Europe, a trade was reported for used cooking oil (UCO) at €840 ($929) per tonne DDP North-West Europe, with the free fatty acid (FFA) levels said to be a maximum of 10%, which influenced the price.

More trading was heard done for South American UCO around $1,020 per tonne for delivery to Italy in ISO tanks.

Prices for palm oil mill effluent (POME) were heard at $880-900 per tonne versus $850 per tonne on a CIF Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) basis.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) released biofuel capacity and feedstock usage on Friday afternoon, showing a record high feedstock consumption for June.
