US corn, soybean export sales hit new marketing-year low, below estimates

Corn
US corn sales reductions for 2023/24 were reported at a new marketing-year low of 173,100 tonnes in the week to August 29, down noticeably from the previous week and from the prior four-week average, landing below the USDA’s expected range of (100,000)-100,000 tonnes, USDA data showed on Friday September 6.

Much of the increase came from Mexico (46,500 tonnes), Japan (42,000 tonnes), Colombia (19,600 tonnes), El Salvador (14,000 tonnes) and Saudi Arabia (5,300 tonnes). These gains were partly offset by reductions for unknown destinations (229,500 tonnes), Spain (48,400 tonnes), Nicaragua (15,000 tonnes), Venezuela (9,000 tonnes) and Canada (1,000 tonnes). The USDA groups undisclosed destinations under the umbrella term “unknown.”
