Most products in the US animal protein market were steady on Tuesday September 10, with market sources saying the market was quiet for the day.
The only exception was porcine bloodmeal on the Mo. River, which was reported lower but in a wider range for the day.
Fastmarkets assessed porcine bloodmeal, Mo. River at $950-1,065 per short ton on Tuesday, down from $1,025-1,100 per short ton on Monday.
Deals heard under the current price range were indicated for ruminant bloodmeal, but trades could not be confirmed as of press time.
One market source called the soybean meal market “bearish into the fourth quarter, with little to no indications of slowed production.”
July US dog and cat food export
The US Census Bureau’s dog and cat food exports report, released in September, indicated that July dog and cat food exports were valued at $221.37 million, up by $6.76 million, or 3.15%, from June.
