US’ Minneapolis-St Paul airport to be SAF demand hub by late 2025, Delta says

The Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport in the US state of Minnesota will become the next major center for the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), according to announcements made on Thursday September 12 by Delta Airlines and by economic development group Greater MSP.

Integrated petroleum company Shell and refiner Flint Hills Resources (FHR) are collaborating on an SAF blending facility just south of Minneapolis-St Paul that will deliver SAF blended with conventional jet fuel directly to the airport by pipeline. This facility was scheduled to be completed and online by late 2025.

Shell will provide SAF to FHR’s Pine Bend refinery in Rosemount, Minnesota, where it will be blended with jet fuel provided by FHR.
