African organic soybean meal exports declining

Organic soybean meal imports are slowing, traders told Fastmarkets. The slowdown is not reflected in the most recent data from U.S. Customs in the chart below.

Imports from the Black Sea region increased considerably in 2024, with Russia on track to double 2023 volume, and Turkey having already trebled it, with more shipments on the horizon.

Both key West African organic soybean producing nations, Togo and Nigeria, have already surpassed 2023 exports as of July. In neighbouring Benin, sandwiched between the two, exports to the U.S. are on track to double this year.
