French-based technology company Haffner Energy will spin off its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) division into an independent entity called SAF Zero, the company announced on Friday September 13.
Haffner Energy owns a proprietary process called SAFNOCA that can convert many different types of biomass and organic waste into a hydrogen syngas that can then be processed into SAF by either the alcohol-to-jet or the Fischer-Tropsch production pathway.
The company will license this process to SAF Zero as part of the spin-off.
