US weekly ethanol production hits 3-month low; stocks climb

Weekly average ethanol production in the US dropped to a three-month low of 1.049 million barrels per day in the week to September 13, down by 31,000 bpd from a week earlier but up by 7% year on year, according to reports by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Wednesday September 18.

Ethanol stocks totaled 23.78 million barrels, up by 71,000 barrels week on week and by 9.7% year on year.

Demand for corn decreased by 2.9% from the previous week but was up by 7% year on year. Approximately 15.5 million bushels of corn per day were used for ethanol production.

Livestock feed production totaled 112,178 tonnes in the week to September 13. Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) production accounted for 99,768 tonnes, with the remaining amount consisting of 10,471 tonnes of corn gluten feed and 1,939 tonnes of corn gluten meal.
