US animal fats, oils mostly stable as SBO loses some momentum

The US animal fats and oils markets remained largely stable on Thursday September 26, with fundamentals considered well balanced through October and many buyers and sellers already well-covered for nearby positions.

The only notable price movements throughout the day were seen in the grease markets. Choice white grease FOB Missouri River was assessed in a wider range at 43.5-44.5 cents per lb, while yellow grease out of the Gulf Coast also increased slightly.

Yellow grease prices out of the California markets were flat on Thursday after seeing gains earlier in the week. Sources attributed the recent price uptick for yellow grease to strength in the adjacent used cooking oil markets.
