Animal proteins steady; CBOT soybean meal weekly price climbs 3.19%

US animal protein prices were generally flat during the week to Friday September 27, due to a persistent quiet tone in the market, sources said.

The start of fourth-quarter contracts, paired with the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) looming port strike for more than half of the country’s goods, has kept several participants on the sidelines and focusing on logistical challenges.

Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) front-month soybean meal futures averaged $328.82 per short ton in the week to Friday, up by 3.19% from the previous week’s average of $318.66 per short ton.
