August US soybean crush, corn consumption fall below monthly levels

US soybean crush falls below monthly, yearly levels
Soybeans crushed for crude oil totaled 168 million bushels in August, down by 13.3% from July and down by 0.85% from August 2023, according to the USDA’s Fats and Oils: Oilseed Crushing, Production, Consumption and Stocks report released on Tuesday October 1.

Crude oil production totaled 1.99 billion lb, down by 14% month on month and down by 1% year on year.

Soybean oil production reached 1.68 billion lb during August, down by 9% from July and down by 2% from August 2023.

Soybean meal production stood at 3.7 million short tons, down by 13.2% month on month and down by 1.6% year on year.

Production of soymeal intended for animal feed totaled 3.6 million short tons, while production for edible protein products reached 57,712 tons.
