Animal fats and oils mostly steady; DCO edges higher

Trading in the animal fats and oils market was sluggish on Thursday October 3, driven by a prevailing bearish sentiment and slowing demand from buyers in the US Gulf market.

Tallow was quiet on the day, with no trading reported into or through the Chicago and Gulf regions.

Distillers’ corn oil (DCO) markets were stable to higher on an FOB basis amid light trading on Thursday. Moderate truck volumes in the Missouri River market traded at the lower end of the assessed range, at 43.50-44.00 cents per lb, while pricing in the Manly, Iowa, market was reported higher.

December soybean oil futures closed at 44.53 cents per lb on Thursday, rising 89 basis points from Wednesday’s close of 43.64 cents per lb, and marking the highest level since late July.
