The US Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) released on Tuesday October 8 by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) lowered its US renewable diesel production outlook for both 2024 and 2025.
The agency cut its 2024 renewable diesel output forecast from 230,000 barrels per day last month to 210,000 bpd in its latest report. The 2025 domestic renewable diesel production projection was lowered from 250,000 bpd in September to 230,000 bpd.
The renewable diesel consumption forecast was left unchanged on the month at 240,000 bpd. The 2025 domestic blending outlook was lowered from 260,000 bpd in September to 250,000 bpd in the EIA’s latest monthly report.
Meanwhile, the domestic biodiesel consumption projection for 2025 rose from 90,000 bpd in September to 100,000 bpd. And the 2024 biodiesel use forecast was steady on the month at 120,000 bpd.
