US corn, soybean futures drop amid weather changes, harvest progress

According to the weather forecast on Monday October 14, a cold front is expected to move across a large portion of the US while dry conditions persist, and the weather in South America is forecast to return to normal.

A recent front brought unexpected rainfall to the Great Lakes region, with lingering cold air this week. Harvest conditions are generally favorable, though winter wheat growers are hoping for additional rain.

In the central and southern Plains, a brief chill will give way to warmer temperatures midweek, followed by rain showers on Friday October 18 that may extend into October 21. While this rain would benefit winter wheat and livestock producers, it probably won’t be sufficient to ease drought conditions.
