Animal protein prices flat on limited trading

Trading was mostly quiet in the US animal protein market on Monday October 21 with minimal changes reported. Several market participants are attending the North American Rendering Association (NARA) Annual Convention this week, keeping trade limited.

Hog slaughter
Fastmarkets’ research team forecasts hog slaughter at 2.650 million head in the week to Saturday October 26, up by 0.95% from the respective week in 2023.

Over the next six weeks, hog slaughter is projected to average 2.583 million head per week, higher by 0.58% year on year.
