Central Illinois soybean prices hit 4-year low: USDA

In the week to Friday October 18, the soybean crush margin in Central Illinois increased by 6.6% week on week but was down by 9.1% year on year, according to the USDA’s National Weekly Grain Co-Products Report released on Monday October 21.

In the week to Friday, soybean meal prices climbed to $346.60 per short ton, up by 0.4% week on week from $345.10 per ton but down by 20% year on year.

Soybean prices fell to a four-year low of $9.76 per bushel, down by 3.1% week on week from $10.07 per bu and down by 25.1% from a year earlier.

Soybean oil prices dropped to 42.92 cents per lb, down by 2.7% week on week from 44.09 cents per lb and down by 23.9% year on year.

The increase in soybean meal prices led to a crush margin of $3.36 per bu, up by 25 cents per bu from the prior six-week average of $3.11 per bu.
