US animal proteins prices steady on light trade

Prices were steady in the US animal protein market on Wednesday October 23, with several market participants attending the North American Rendering Association (NARA) conference in California, which limited trade volumes for the week, industry sources told Fastmarkets.

US broiler slaughter
Fastmarkets’ research team forecast broiler slaughter at 168.14 million head in the week to Saturday October 26, 2.30% higher from the same period in 2023.

Over the next six weeks, broiler slaughter is expected to average 163.61 million head per week, higher by 0.94% year on year, according to Fastmarkets’ research team.
