US meat meal production in September down year on year: USDA

Trading was quiet in the US animal protein market on Monday November 4, with no price changes reported.

Hog slaughter
Fastmarkets’ research team forecasts hog slaughter at 2.675 million head in the week to November 9, up by 3.75% from the respective week in 2023.

Over the next six weeks, hog slaughter is projected to average 2.595 million head per week, up by 0.51% year on year.

Hog slaughter for the week ended Saturday November 2 was at 2.653 million head, up by 2.3% year on year, according to the USDA’s Estimated Weekly Meat Production Under Federal Inspection report. Year-to-date hog slaughter was at 108.23 million head, up by 1.0% year on year.
