Renewable diesel demand for soybean oil down 31% in September: EIA

Feedstock demand fell in September, for a third consecutive month after reaching an all-time monthly high of 3.47 billion pounds in June. Data released on Friday November 30 by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that renewable diesel (RD) producers aggressively pared back their consumption of vegetable oils during the month.

Soybean oil is the predominant feedstock used in biomass-based diesel (BBD) production. September soybean oil demand of 1.08 billion pounds was down 12% from August, reaching a four-month low.
