October US soybean crush jumps 15% month on month; corn consumption up 3%

US soybean crush climbs above monthly, yearly levels
Soybeans crushed for crude oil totaled 216 million bushels in October, up by 15.7% from September and up by 7.2% from October 2023, according to the USDA’s Fats and Oils: Oilseed Crushing, Production, Consumption and Stocks report released on Monday December 2.

Crude oil production totaled 2.57 billion lb, up by 16% month on month and up by 8% year on year.

Soybean oil production reached 1.91 billion lb during October, up by 9% from September and up by 4% from September 2023.

Soybean meal production stood at 4.77 million short tons, up by 16.7% month on month and up by 7.4% year on year.

Production of soymeal intended for animal feed totaled 4.7 million tons, while production for edible protein products reached 69,009 tons.

Soymeal stocks totaled 303,430 tons in October, down by 26.6% from September but up by 4.3% from October 2023.
