Excess supply puts pressure on meat and bonemeal prices in several regions

Prices for US animal proteins were highly mixed on Wednesday December 4.

Poultry related product prices were rangebound for the day, while bloodmeal was flat to higher and meat and bonemeal was steady to lower.

Active demand combined with tight inventory continued to be supportive factors for porcine bloodmeal, pushing prices as high as $1,200 per short ton in the Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska region and $1,250 per short ton in Indiana.

Fastmarkets assessed porcine, bloodmeal, Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska at $1,100-1,200 per short ton, up from Tuesday’s range of $1,050-1,100 per ton.

Fastmarkets assessed porcine, bloodmeal, Indiana at $1,125-1,250 per short ton, up from Tuesday’s range of $1,060-1,125 per ton.
