The US animal fats and oils markets were largely steady on Thursday December 5, with overall trading remaining subdued.
The most-active market on Thursday was choice white grease (CWG), which traded within a range of 41-43 cents per lb FOB Missouri River, though prices were also discussed as low as 40 cents per lb throughout the day.
Meanwhile, CWG prices for FOB Indiana fell to 41 cents per lb.
While steady feed demand has kept the CWG market relatively stable over the past few months, sources noted that the market is beginning to feel “heavy,” suggesting demand may begin to soften.
Elsewhere, minimal trade reported in the distiller’s corn oil (DCO) markets on Thursday, with most FOB Midwest locations discussed around 44 cents per lb, with many saying January bids are a penny or so under December prices.
