US biodiesel imports fall to 2-year low while exports reach lowest since January

US Census Bureau data released on Thursday December 5 showed that biodiesel import volumes in October dropped to their lowest monthly level since October 2022.

The US also exported the fewest monthly gallons of biodiesel since January.

The US imported 21.9 million gallons of biodiesel during October. This was down by 20% from the 26.5 million gallons imported in September, and 58% below October 2023 imports of 50 million gallons.

Biodiesel imports arrived from four countries in October – Canada, France, Germany and Malaysia, compared with six countries in September. Of these, Canada and Germany provided 99.9% of the volume.

Biodiesel imports were averaging 37 million gallons per month, down from a 38.6 million gallons average for the year to September.
