Weekly averages in US fats markets dip, European Q1 feedstock prices rise

Packer bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) prices held steady at the previous week’s average in the week to Friday December 6, while Gulf Coast-delivered tallow continued its upward trend, with the weekly average inching higher.

In contrast, renderer-grade BFT on a Chicago basis lost some of the prior week’s gains, dropping 2.00 cents per lb earlier in the week and bringing the weekly average down to 43.00 cents per lb.

The slight downtick in Chicago pricing this week is primarily attributed to softening demand, with most buyers reported to be well-covered for the remainder of December.

Distiller’s corn oil (DCO) FOB Missouri River dropped by 5.16% week on week, driven by consistently strong production levels and the recent declines in soybean oil prices beginning to reflect in DCO pricing.
