US animal protein production forecasts mixed for 2025

US animal proteins were mixed for Tuesday December 17 with most participants communicating to Fastmarkets an increased focus on logistics.

Most prices remained within the range, though wide spreads were indicated in some regions.

A high of $360 per short ton was reported on ruminant meat and bonemeal, Missouri River.

Several market participants called the animal proteins market “messy” due to a combination of plants and buyer expected downtime for the holidays, increased logistical strains and diminished spot offerings.

As of the December 10 WASDE release, beef and turkey production are forecast below 2024 for the first three quarters, while pork and broiler production are forecast to increase.
