US November soybean crush falls below expectations

On Monday December 16, the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) reported the November soybean crush of 193.185 million bushels. The monthly crush fell short of analyst estimates of 196.713 million bu and was down from October’s all-time high.

The November crush was 3.4% below the record October crush of 199.943 million bu, which NOPA revised down from 199.959 million bu on Monday’s report.

The crush fell due to extended downtime at a key Des Moines, Iowa, crush facility. “The facility initially went down in October and was not expected to be back online until late November. I expect December to see a stronger crush,” a soybean processor said.

Despite the reduced crush operations, the November crush was still the fourth largest monthly crush and the largest November crush on record.
