US weekly ethanol production continues to climb; stocks slide

US weekly average ethanol production reached 1.103 million barrels per day in the week to Friday December 13, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report on Wednesday December 18. This marked an increase of 25,000 bpd from the previous week and of 3% year on year.

Ethanol stocks were reported at 22.636 million barrels, down by 12,000 barrels week on week and down by 1.2% year on year.

Demand for corn increased by 2.3% from the previous week and by 3% year on year. Approximately 16.34 million bushels of corn per day were used for ethanol production.

Livestock feed production totaled 117,953 tonnes in the week to Friday. Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) production accounted for 104,904 tonnes, with the remaining amount consisting of 11,010 tonnes of corn gluten feed and 2,039 tonnes of corn gluten meal.
