US soybean export sales hit marketing-year low; corn, wheat above estimates

Corn
US corn sales for 2024/25 were reported at 1.71 million tonnes in the week to Thursday December 19, up by 46% from the previous week and by 39% from the prior four-week average, landing above the USDA’s expected range of 1 million-1.6 million tonnes, USDA data showed on Friday December 27.

Much of the increase came from Mexico (608,900 tonnes), Colombia (363,900 tonnes), Japan (204,800 tonnes), unknown destinations (163,200 tonnes) and South Korea (124,400 tonnes). The USDA groups undisclosed destinations under the umbrella term “unknown.”

These gains were partly offset by reductions for Costa Rica (7,500 tonnes) and Panama (500 tonnes).

The accumulated export commitments reached 172.1% of the USDA forecast.

Export sales for the 2025/26 crop season totaled 10,000 tonnes for Japan.
